In a strong ultimatum to the government, truck drivers in Balochistan have threatened to block national highways if the escalating violent attacks on their vehicles persist without adequate security measures. This warning follows a series of alarming incidents where trucks have been vandalized and looted, according to Dawn.

During a press conference, Haji Muhammad Anwar Shahwani, president of the Balochistan Goods Truck Owners Association, condemned the government's inaction, highlighting the simultaneous financial and safety jeopardies faced by truck owners. He was joined by other leaders, addressing regular thefts, hijackings, and assaults, particularly in regions like Harnai and Kalat.

Incidents such as the recent torching of four trucks in Harnai and Ziarat have led transporters in various divisions to suspend coal transport. Shahwani announced decisive measures, including highway blockades on November 14 and a halt to coal loading on November 16, emphasizing the possibility of a province-wide strike if demands remain unmet, Dawn reported.

The precarious security situation in Balochistan, exacerbated by insurgency and ethnic tensions, poses threats to its economic roles and trade routes. With valuable resources at risk, transporters' escalating calls for government action highlight an urgent need for intervention to stabilize the region, Dawn reports.

The looming threats of widespread strikes and highway blockades signal an acute need for governmental action to resolve Balochistan's worsening security crisis, reports ANI.
