India's Jaishankar to Attend Landmark SCO Summit in Pakistan

India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to visit Pakistan to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, slated for October 15-16 in Islamabad, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Friday.
Earlier in August, Pakistan extended an invitation to India for the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting. During a media briefing on August 30, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed the invitation, and mentioned that further updates would follow regarding India's participation.
The last noteworthy diplomatic exchange occurred in May when Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited India for an SCO meeting in Goa. The SCO, established in 2001, acts as a major intergovernmental organization fostering regional collaboration; it comprises nine member states, including India and Pakistan.
