The US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Richard Verma, hailed the remarkable progress in India-US relations, describing it as 'unimaginable' a few decades ago. He praised the contributions of millions from both countries who bridged gaps through travel, studies, and joint ventures.
Speaking at the 'The United States & India: Milestones Reached and the Pathway Ahead' event, Verma noted the shift in policies in New Delhi and Washington as pivotal for this evolution. He highlighted how these changes fostered cooperation in energy, security, and trade, overcoming Cold War-era divides.
Verma also emphasized defense cooperation, noting India's unique status as a 'Major Defence Partner of the US.' He affirmed support for India's bid for a permanent UN Security Council seat and stressed the importance of the Quad grouping for Indo-Pacific stability, urging continued efforts to overcome remaining challenges.
