Top US Diplomat to Bolster Indo-Pacific Ties With India, Bangladesh Visit

Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu is set to visit India and Bangladesh from September 10 to 16, reaffirming US support for economic growth and regional stability, the Department of State announced.
While in New Delhi, Lu will spotlight US-India cooperation on development, security, and women's economic security at the India Ideas Summit, organized by the US-India Business Council. He will also co-chair the eighth US-India 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue with US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs Jedidiah P Royal, along with Indian counterparts, according to the release.
The meetings aim to boost the US-India partnership, particularly in defense and regional collaboration. In Dhaka, Lu will join an interagency delegation for talks with the interim Bangladeshi government, featuring representatives from the US Department of the Treasury, USAID, and the Office of the US Trade Representative. Discussions will focus on supporting Bangladesh's economic growth, financial stability, and development priorities.
