The European Union is intensifying its collaboration with India to ensure a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based maritime order in the Indo-Pacific region, stated EU envoy Herve Delphin on Thursday.
Delphin described the Indo-Pacific as a 'vital hub' of strategic significance for both India and the EU due to its crucial role in maritime supply chains. 'We're committed to stronger cooperation to address common security challenges and promote peace and stability here,' he affirmed.
Following a visit by senior Indian officials to Brussels, Delphin highlighted the importance of their shared commitment to enhancing security and defense ties. He cited the joint operations of the EU Naval Force and Indian Navy in the Indian Ocean as evidence of their successful cooperation. Delphin stressed the need for more permanent staff interactions to boost joint operational effectiveness in facing maritime, land, and cyber challenges.
