Six individuals, including five from the same family, have perished in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa owing to heavy rainfall and strong winds ravaging the province. The severe weather conditions have led to the destruction of two homes in separate incidents, as reported by Dawn.

According to Anwar Shahzada, a spokesperson for the KP Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the adverse weather began early Friday morning and has continued into the next day. Shahzada confirmed that a house in the Charsadda district collapsed due to the relentless rain, resulting in the deaths of five family members. Rescue 1122 teams recovered their bodies and transported them to a local hospital on Friday night.

The PDMA official specified that the Charsadda victims included three children, a woman, and her husband. Additionally, lightning claimed the life of a man in Upper Dir on the same night, according to the Dawn report. Shahzada added that the rain also inflicted damage on two other houses. The district administration has been advised to remain alert and prepared for further emergencies as additional rainfall is anticipated.

KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed sorrow over the demise of the five family members in Turangzai and offered prayers for their souls. The governor has instructed authorities to initiate relief efforts and provide support to the affected family. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has also extended his condolences and prayers for the deceased.

PDMA statistics indicate that from July 1 to September 14, 107 individuals have died and 146 have been injured due to heavy rains, landslides, and flash floods in the province. Furthermore, 977 houses have been damaged, according to Dawn. The PDMA has urged tourists and locals to avoid unnecessary travel under the current weather conditions to prevent accidents.
