External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, while addressing the Indian diaspora in Geneva, stressed that life is not 'khata-khat' (an easy job) and requires hard work. His comments also took a subtle dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who had claimed that Congress would solve problems 'khata khat' if voted to power. According to Jaishankar, building infrastructure and developing human resources are rooted in hard work and diligence.

Jaishankar elaborated that a country's elevation to a major global power necessitates robust manufacturing capabilities, which are intertwined with technological advancements. 'There are skeptics who think we can't or shouldn't even try. But ask yourself, can you be a major power without manufacturing?' he inquired. He added that India's focus is on enhancing its human resources and escalating efforts toward infrastructural development.

Highlighting global interest in India's progress, he mentioned, 'During my travels, leaders globally show immense curiosity about India's affairs. They ask about our food distribution system covering 830 million people and our improved income tax collection, which fascinates many like a major Arab leader.' Jaishankar concluded by saying that India's achievements are lessons for the world, and they serve as motivation to strive further.
