Jaishankar Urges Greater Indo-German Cooperation in Defence and Security

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has called for stronger cooperation between India and Germany in the realms of defence and security, emphasizing the importance of shared values and convergent interests. Speaking at the Annual Ambassadors' Conference of the German Foreign Office in Berlin, Jaishankar highlighted India's rising capabilities, expanding infrastructure, and booming economy.
Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and the country's ambassador to India, Dr Philipp Ackermann, were also present at the event. Jaishankar stressed the need for recognizing global interdependence and that major nations must expand their horizons by forging partnerships in areas of mutual comfort and confidence.
He highlighted the importance of cooperation in green and clean energy, sustainable urbanization, and emerging technologies. Jaishankar also pointed out that defence cooperation should be given greater thought and commended the recent air exercises between the two nations. He provided insights on India's digital transformation, rapid infrastructure growth, and its potential as a global talent hub, emphasizing that close and continuous consultation on global issues is essential to building trust in the partnership.
