India and Singapore are deepening their multifaceted ties, according to Secretary (East) Jaideep Mazumdar, who emphasized the essential need for mutual cooperation. The strong military, economic, and cultural exchanges were spotlighted as pivotal during a special briefing on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Singapore.
In his address, Mazumdar highlighted the robust defense cooperation, including regular joint exercises, ship visits, and domain awareness exchanges. He pointed out Singapore's significant role as the largest foreign investor in India since 2020, emphasizing the expansive future potential in sectors like renewable energy, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing.
Prime Minister Modi's meetings with Singapore leaders, including Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, focused on further strengthening bilateral cooperation. Discussions underscored free and open commerce as critical to the ASEAN region, with the elevation of relations to a 'Comprehensive Strategic Partnership' marking a significant milestone.
