The leaders of South Korea and New Zealand have strongly condemned the growing military cooperation between North Korea and Russia. This denunciation occurred during a summit focused on strengthening bilateral ties, held in Seoul on Wednesday.
New Zealand's Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, made his inaugural visit to South Korea since assuming office last November. During this meeting, Luxon and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol vehemently criticized North Korea's illegal nuclear and missile development activities and its export of ballistic missiles to Russia, stating it as a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The summit also highlighted the leaders' unified stance against Russia's war in Ukraine and their commitment to supporting Ukraine's sovereignty. In a bid to deepen economic links, Yoon and Luxon initiated a regular bilateral economic security dialogue, noting that trade between the two nations has nearly doubled over the past decade.
