Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Singapore on Wednesday for a pivotal two-day visit, invited by his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong.

Upon arrival at Changai airport from Brunei, he was greeted by Indian High Commissioner to Singapore Shilpak Ambule and Singapore's High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, along with other officials. PM Modi and Lawrence Wong will assess the progress of the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership and share perspectives on regional and global matters of mutual concern, as per the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

During his visit, PM Modi will meet Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and engage with the Singaporean leadership. He will also hold discussions with business leaders. Prior to Singapore, PM Modi visited Brunei, where he had comprehensive talks with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral ties. PM Modi expressed on X his pleasure in meeting the Sultan and highlighted the intention to boost trade and people-to-people exchanges.

The Prime Minister inaugurated a new High Commission chancery in Brunei, reflecting traditional Indian aesthetics. He also visited the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, received by Brunei's Minister of Religious Affairs and Health Minister. Secretary East, MEA, Jaideep Mazumdar, mentioned that the talks covered diverse sectors including defense, trade, and space. Brunei will soon commence direct flights to India, fostering further connectivity.

Space cooperation remains vital, with India's telemetry tracking station in Brunei reflecting the strong ties. PM Modi's visit aligns with the 40th anniversary of India-Brunei diplomatic relations and aims to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
