In a late-night incident on Sunday, over a dozen Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists ambushed a checkpost in Mianwali, injuring two policemen, according to a Punjab police statement referenced by Dawn. The attackers, described by the government as 'Kharijis' or outcasts, escaped after the attack.

A police spokesperson stated, 'Around 12-14 Khawariji terrorists exploited the darkness to attack the Qubal Khel checkpost with rocket launchers and hand grenades.' The attackers were repelled thanks to the vigilance of the Punjabi police officers stationed there.

Mianwali DPO Akhtar Farooq praised the officers for stopping the attackers during his visit to the site. The area's Inspector General, Dr. Usman Anwar, recognized the officers for foiling what was the ninth terrorist attempt against Punjab Police in recent months. A search operation is in progress, aimed at inflicting significant losses on the fleeing terrorists.

Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized, 'The interprovincial border posts have a lead-hardened wall against terrorists, and we will continue to thwart their malevolent intentions in the future.'
