Two policemen were killed, and another injured in a bomb blast targeting officials in Kuchlak town near Quetta on Saturday, police sources reported. Quetta's Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Azhar Rashid informed the media that the explosives were pre-planted at the site and detonated as the police vehicle arrived.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Zainuddin and gunman Mohammad Tahir were martyred, while the driver, who was initially moved to Mufti Mehmood Memorial Hospital, was later transferred to a trauma center in Quetta, DSP Rashid added.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack, offering condolences to the families of the fallen and emphasizing that the sacrifices of Balochistan Police, levies, and security forces will not be forgotten. Bugti pledged relentless action against terrorists and their collaborators.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also honored the martyred officers, expressing heartfelt sympathies to their families and praying for the injured driver's recovery. Naqvi reiterated the country's undeterred resolve to continue the fight against terrorism.

August saw a surge in terrorist activities with 59 incidents nationwide, compared to 38 in July, according to the Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS). Militants from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) launched multiple attacks on August 25, claiming at least 50 lives, including 14 security officials.

The assailants targeted police stations, railway tracks, and civilian vehicles, resulting in widespread chaos. Security forces neutralized 21 militants in response. Among the victims were 23 laborers from Punjab, who were executed after their identities were confirmed in Musakhail.

Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir vowed to persist in the fight against terrorism until all threats are eliminated, acknowledging the extraordinary sacrifices made by security forces and the people of Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
