Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday honored the Monument to the Battle of Monte Cassino in Warsaw. The monument commemorates the victory of the Second Polish Corps in the 1944 battle during World War II, where over 900 Polish soldiers lost their lives.

Arriving in Warsaw for a two-day visit, Modi also paid tribute at the Jam Saheb of Nawanagar Memorial. The memorial celebrates the historical relations between India and Poland and honors Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji, who established a camp for Polish refugee children during World War II.

Describing the tribute as a moving acknowledgment, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the long-lasting impact of the Maharaja's compassion on India-Poland relations. Modi's visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years.
