The relationship between India and Malaysia has significantly improved since Anwar Ibrahim took office in 2022, with more than 15 high-level visits. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed this on Tuesday during Ibrahim's first visit to India as Prime Minister.
In a press briefing, MEA Secretary (East) Jaideep Mazumdar highlighted the significance of Ibrahim's visit. It marks nearly a decade of enhanced strategic partnership, first announced when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Malaysia in 2015. The two leaders have developed a close rapport since meeting at the Raisina Dialogue in 2019.
Extensive discussions between the leaders covered trade, defence, and emerging technologies. Modi expressed optimism, noting the bilateral investment of over $5 billion. MoUs and agreements were exchanged, aiming to deepen engagement across multiple domains.
