By Reena Bhardwaj: Thousands of people participated in the India Day Parade held in New York City. The highlight of the parade was a grand float featuring the Ram Mandir, adorned with flowers and carved from wood.

Patriotic and religious songs played as attendees waved Indian flags and danced to the beats of dhols. The Ram Mandir float, a depiction of the grand sandstone temple in Ayodhya, drew significant attention. This 18-foot-long float, crafted in India, was air-shipped for the parade. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol.

The parade journeyed down Madison Avenue, featuring over 40 floats, 50 marching groups, and various cultural performances. Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha served as the grand marshal, with dignitaries like Pankaj Tripathi and Manoj Tiwari as guests of honor. Despite controversy over the Ram Mandir float, the event celebrated India's rich culture and diversity.

Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj, speaking to ANI, emphasized the cultural and spiritual essence of the parade. He highlighted India's global message of equality and unity, referring to the Ram Mandir float as a symbol of inclusive values.

In light of the controversy, Ankur Vaidya, Chairman of the Federation of Indian Associations, reaffirmed the parade's mission to showcase harmony and peace. Preparations were strongly supported by the NYPD and local officials, marking the 42nd and largest India Day parade in the US.

Vaidya urged all participants to remain calm and abide by local laws. Celebrated annually for over four decades, the India Day Parade marks the celebration of India's independence, showcasing the country's vibrant culture and diversity in the heart of New York City.

Federation of Indian Associations acknowledged concerns about hate messages but stood firm in its commitment to a peaceful celebration. They emphasized the importance of cultural unity and respect for all religious landmarks.
