In a groundbreaking feat for the UAE's space industry, Bayanat AI PLC and Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PJSC (Yahsat) have successfully launched the nation's first Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite. The launch took place on August 16, 2024, from California's Vandenberg Space Force Base via SpaceX's Transporter 11 rideshare, with integration by Exolaunch.

The SAR satellite, a collaborative effort with ICEYE, aims to bolster Earth's observation capabilities. Utilizing advanced SAR technology, the satellite can capture high-resolution images regardless of weather or lighting conditions, offering persistent monitoring solutions and covering larger geographical areas compared to other SAR services.

This monumental achievement aligns with the UAE's National Space Strategy 2030, fostering local talent and establishing sovereign satellite data capabilities. The collaboration between Bayanat and Yahsat positions both companies at the forefront of the regional and global SpaceTech industry, further strengthened by their envisaged merger into Space42.
