Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir emphasized that weakening the armed forces equates to weakening the country itself, as reported by Dawn News. Speaking at the Azadi Parade at Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul on the eve of Independence Day, Munir highlighted the nation's strength in overcoming trials.
"No negative force has ever weakened the trust and love between the army and the nation, and none will in the future," General Munir affirmed. His comments came shortly after the unprecedented arrest of former ISI chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, who is facing allegations of violating the Army Act and misconduct leveled by a private housing society's owner.
Former ISI chief Faiz Hameed, now the third general officer to face court-martial proceedings, is accused of extorting money from the private housing society and orchestrating political unrest. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah have pointed to Hameed's continued political meddling post-retirement as a key factor in his arrest.
