Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has addressed the growing unrest in Bangladesh, asserting that Indians find it difficult to stay indifferent as symbols of the two nations' friendship come under attack. Speaking about the tumultuous situation, Tharoor lamented the deterioration of what was considered a democratic revolution into chaos, marked by violence against minorities and notably targeting the Hindu community.

"It's deeply tragic to see a celebrated democratic revolution descend into anarchy, with minorities, especially Hindus, facing violence," Tharoor told ANI. He pointed out the targeted vandalism, including the destruction of the Pakistani surrender statue and the damage to the Indian Cultural Centre and ISKCON temple – actions he deemed "very negative" for India-Bangladesh relations.

Bangladesh's political landscape has been unstable since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on August 5 amid widespread student protests against the government jobs quota system, which escalated into broader anti-government demonstrations. Notably, a clash erupted between the army and Hindu minority protesters displaying posters of missing family members. Interim government chief Muhammad Yunus has pledged safety for minorities, urging unity and patience in resolving the crisis.
