NITI Aayog CEO B V R Subrahmanyam on Wednesday reiterated India's commitment to climate-friendly growth while acknowledging the continued role of fossil fuels in driving economic growth.
Speaking at an event, Subrahmanyam emphasized that markets alone are insufficient to tackle climate change and unveiled India's strategy for a green energy transition.
He outlined NITI Aayog's collaboration with states to develop a roadmap for achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2070 and leveraging green technologies, despite India's per capita energy consumption being half of the global average.
