In a significant development, Republican nominee Donald Trump will debate Vice President Kamala Harris on American television network ABC News come September 10. Trump relayed the information from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, stating his campaign's commitment to three debates, to be hosted by Fox News, ABC News, and NBC News. The upcoming September 10 debate on ABC News is notably the only debate in which the Harris campaign has agreed to participate.

Confirming her participation in a post on X, Harris expressed, "ABC News will host qualifying presidential candidates to debate on September 10. Vice President Harris and former President Trump have both confirmed their attendance," the network stated.

Trump, who initially opted out of the ABC debate following President Joe Biden's decision not to seek reelection, said, "It's crucial to have these debates. We've scheduled one with Fox for September 4, NBC for September 10, and ABC for September 25." The former president added that agreement from Harris' end was still pending, questioning her competence and stating, "She has not done an interview, and she can't do an interview. I look forward to the debates to set the record straight."

Harris, attending an event in Detroit, remarked, "I'm glad he's finally agreed to a debate on September 10th. I'm looking forward to it, and I hope he shows up," according to CNN reports. Meanwhile, Trump mentioned that his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, will participate in a vice-presidential debate next month hosted by CBS News, praising Vance's performance. Conversely, Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, are actively campaigning in key battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
