The United Arab Emirates (UAE) expressed deep concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan, where more than 25 million citizens face severe food insecurity. The UAE highlighted an urgent need for global focus on the declared famine in North Darfur's Zamzam camp, with half a million displaced, and other regions on the brink of famine.

Welcoming a UN Security Council meeting on the issue, the UAE emphasized the necessity of an emergency response. It urged the Sudanese Armed Forces to lift humanitarian access restrictions and called on the Rapid Support Forces to ensure safe operations for aid organizations. The UAE condemned starvation as a war tactic, emphasizing breaches of international humanitarian law and the need for unrestricted aid access.

The UAE called on the Security Council to explore all available measures, including potentially authorizing cross-line and cross-border humanitarian efforts. Stressing the importance of coordinated international actions, the UAE reiterated the need for an immediate, permanent ceasefire and successful peace talks. Appreciating the diplomatic efforts from the US, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland, the UAE affirmed its ongoing support and commitment, including a USD 100 million allocation for Sudan and regional refugees.
