Sharjah, UAE – The eighth edition of the 'Al Dhaid Date Festival' commenced on Thursday at Expo Al Dhaid, set to run until July 28. Organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the festival sees widespread participation from palm owners, farmers, and industry figures across the UAE.

In attendance at the inaugural ceremony were Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI; Salem Ali Salem Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Sharjah Municipal Council; Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, and Waleed Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Vice Chairman of SCCI. Numerous officials joined them, including heads of municipal councils and representatives from participating government entities.

Following the launch, attendees toured the festival's display stands, exploring various types of dates and engaging with farmers. Detailed explanations on palm tree cultivation and the festival's competitions, including 'The Best Lemons,' 'Fig Contest,' and 'The Most Beautiful Home-grown Dates' for women, were provided. The festival promotes sustainable agricultural development and the UAE's heritage in palm cultivation.
