Ajman [UAE], July 23 (ANI/WAM): Under the esteemed patronage of Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, the Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) is all set to inaugurate the ninth edition of the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival. This festival is one of the region's most significant cultural landmarks and will be held at the Emirates Hospitality Hall in Ajman from July 24th to 28th, 2024.

Sheikh AbdulAziz Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of ADTD, emphasized the festival's importance, stating, "The Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival is a crucial platform to underscore the significance of palm trees and dates within Emirati society. It aims to promote the sustainability of heritage and agricultural sectors, highlighting dates as a profound symbol of our national identity and rich cultural heritage."

Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director-General of ADTD, noted, "The festival's objective is to bolster the local community and enhance economic activities in the region. We strive to increase awareness and interest in our local heritage, preserving the cultural values that are at the core of our national identity." The festival will feature a comprehensive daily program, including artistic performances, cultural presentations, competitions, and workshops suitable for all ages.

The festival seeks to elevate the value of palm trees as a symbol of Emirati heritage, support local farmers, beekeepers, and artisans, and fortify the role of the Culture and Arts Office of ADTD in merging artistic and cultural elements into social and heritage events. The traditional market will feature 56 shops, including farmers' markets, honey shops, and stores selling clothes and Ajman-themed souvenirs for the first time.

An impressive total prize pool of approximately AED500,000 awaits winners, with awards of AED7,000 for first place, AED5,000 for second place, and AED3,000 for third place in each category. The festival includes three categories: one for the northern emirates, another for the other emirates, and a third specifically for Ajman, focusing on dates, citrus fruits, and honey. Visitors are welcome from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily.
