In a brazen assault, a group of 10 terrorists attacked the Bannu cantonment on Monday, resulting in the deaths of eight Pakistani soldiers. According to Geo News Urdu on X, security forces swiftly responded, killing all 10 assailants in a clearance operation.
The terrorists drove a vehicle loaded with explosives into the cantonment wall, causing a massive explosion that led to its collapse and widespread devastation. The soldiers who lost their lives in the attack include Naib Subidar Muhammad Shehzad, Havaldar Zal Hussain, Havaldar Shehzad Ahmed, Sepoy Ashfaq Hussain, Sepoy Subhan Majeed, Sepoy Imtiaz Khan, Sepoy Arsalan Aslam, and Lance Naik Sabz Ali of Frontier Corps.
The fallen soldiers hailed from various regions, including Poonch Azad Kashmir, Khushab, Neelam Azad Kashmir, Muzaffarabad Azad Kashmir, Karak, Bahawalpur, and Lucky Marwat districts. The Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, operating from Afghanistan, claimed responsibility for the attack. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has called on the interim Afghan government to take decisive action against such terrorist elements while reiterating Pakistan's commitment to combating terrorism and defending its people.
