American democracy is currently experiencing significant political polarisation, with concerns mounting over a potential 'Trump Tsunami' that could see Democrats losing crucial political positions. Former diplomat KP Fabian has pointed to the Biden camp's anxiety about losing the White House, Senate, House of Representatives, and several governorships to Republicans, who have nominated Donald Trump for the upcoming presidential elections.

"We must recognise the toxic polarisation," Fabian stated in an interview with ANI following a recent attempt on Donald Trump's life during a Pennsylvania rally. He criticised Biden's approach, saying, "It's one thing to criticise your political adversary, but claiming that only he can save America is problematic. People should acknowledge what Biden said, but it's a bit too late."

The comments come amidst heightened political tensions highlighted by an assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, which resulted in one death and several injuries. Law enforcement responded swiftly, escorting a visibly injured Trump off the stage. Trump later revealed that the bullet had grazed his ear.

President Biden condemned the attack, advocating for peaceful resolutions through the ballot box. "In America, we resolve our differences at the ballot box and not with bullets," he expressed, calling for national unity. Ambassador Fabian noted the potential electoral advantage for Trump. "As of now, Trump is likely to derive a lot of electoral advantage from this. Biden's troubles within his party seem persistent," Fabian remarked.

Fabian highlighted Democrats' concern over a possible 'Trump Tsunami,' which could result in them losing the White House, Senate, House of Representatives, and several governorships. "They want to prevent a Trump tsunami," Fabian emphasised, pointing out the worrisome scenario for Democrats.

Fabian also critiqued the limited choices in American elections compared to other democracies like Iran. "When it comes to a presidential election, if I am an American, do I have a real choice between Trump and Biden?" he questioned.

From an international perspective, Fabian stressed diplomatic impartiality. "Prime Minister Modi and the leader of the opposition have condemned the incident. That's the correct thing to do. But we should not take sides in the election," he said.
