On Sunday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met with the Indian Diaspora in Moscow, emphasizing that Indians living abroad are equal partners in India's development and modernization. Leading the Indian Parliamentary delegation to the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg, Russia, Birla praised their contributions to nation-building.

Birla commended the Indian community in Russia for their disciplined, hardworking, and law-abiding nature. He highlighted their role as brand ambassadors for India, saying their actions shape the image of India in Russia. Despite being small in number, their vibrant participation in cultural events and festivals is significant, he noted.

Birla encouraged the Indian Diaspora to promote their motherland and strengthen India-Russia relations. He also praised Russians' participation in Indian festivals, underscoring the people-to-people connections as a cornerstone of bilateral ties. He urged spreading awareness about India's rich culture and encouraging Russians to visit India.

Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Russia and interaction with the Indian community, Birla highlighted the government's efforts in ushering a new era of change and development. He remarked that the evolving dynamics in India have elevated the global respect for Indians and enhanced the value of Indian passports.

Birla emphasized the strong bond between India and Russia, rooted in mutual trust and respect. He noted that both nations have consistently supported each other through various challenges, asserting a unique relationship of friendship and familial ties. He encouraged the Indian Diaspora to further cement these ties and promote shared interests across diverse sectors including security, defense, trade, and culture.
