Delhi has launched a comprehensive 100-day tuberculosis (TB) awareness and screening campaign to combat the disease. The initiative, starting last December, mobilized schools, universities, and shelter homes to prioritize prevention and early detection.
Educational institutions, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, government, and private schools, as well as major universities like IIT Delhi, have been at the forefront, hosting rallies and creating awareness. Students from institutes such as Jamia Millia Islamia and JNU have become Ni-kshay Mitras, adopting TB patients and supporting them with food baskets for six months.
The campaign also extends to prisons and shelter homes, targeting night shelters in particular. Lok Nayak Chest Clinic has spearheaded sensitization programs, bringing TB care to marginalized communities, ensuring inclusivity and comprehensive healthcare access for all.
