Ivana Skayki, a toddler from southern Lebanon, lies nearly motionless in a hospital bed, wrapped in gauze after suffering severe burns from Israeli strikes. She is being treated at Beirut's specialized burn unit, the only facility equipped to handle such cases across Lebanon.
Her father recalls the horrifying moment they were forced to flee their hometown as Israeli bombs shook their house. The strikes resulted in more than 550 casualties that day, reflecting the devastating impact on civilians.
Despite receiving initial treatment in Tyre, Ivana required specialized care available only in Beirut. The hospital's burn unit has exceeded its capacity to accommodate victims like Ivana, whose story underscores the severe human cost of geopolitical conflicts.
