Escalation in the Israel-Hezbollah Conflict
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified, with projectiles from Lebanon crossing into Israel. The situation has seen Israel target Hezbollah strongholds, while the Iranian-backed group supports Hamas. Israel's defenses have intercepted most attacks since the Gaza war erupted last year.
Sirens echoed throughout central Israel as a projectile crossed from Lebanon, landing in open terrain, according to the army on Tuesday.
Further alerts were issued in Samaria and Modi'in Illit, as stated by the Israeli military. Israel's advanced air defenses have successfully intercepted the majority of missiles and drones aimed at its territory since the onset of the Gaza war.
The conflict intensified one year after Iranian-backed Hezbollah began rocket attacks on northern Israel, supporting Hamas during the Gaza war. Recent weeks have seen Israel launch assaults on southern Lebanon and Beirut, striking Hezbollah leaders, while the group retaliated by firing rockets further into Israel.
