Junior and senior doctors gathered in force on Tuesday evening, rallying for justice after a woman medic from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was murdered. The doctors, both from state-run and private institutions, staged rallies from Kolkata Medical College and Hospital and SSKM Hospital to express solidarity.

'We cannot abstain from our duties during Durga Puja,' emphasized Dr. Punyabrata Gun, underscoring the gravity of their cause. Earlier, a significant assembly of the Joint Platform of Doctors in West Bengal met at Esplanade, backing the indefatigable efforts of seven junior doctors on a hunger strike.

Concluding at Esplanade, the protests focused on demands for justice for the deceased medic, alongside calling for Health Secretary NS Nigam's removal. They sought reforms including centralized referral systems, enhanced hospital security, and urgent staffing resolutions.
