In a significant move, the Delhi government has mandated a one-year service bond for medical students graduating from both the All India Quota and State Quota. This applies to both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Under the new regulation issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department, these students must serve for one year in medical institutions under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD). Those who fail to do so will forfeit a bond of Rs 15 lakh for undergraduate (UG) students and Rs 20 lakh for postgraduate (PG) and super-specialty students.

Graduates will be assigned roles at various hospitals, including society hospitals, and will receive stipends equivalent to those of Junior and Senior Residents. The bond will take effect from the next academic session, allowing current graduates to voluntarily take up positions in the interim.
