In a groundbreaking move, a leading healthcare services provider in the Middle East and North Africa, Burjeel Holdings, has announced a monumental medical research collaboration with Axiom Space, a renowned global leader in human spaceflight services. The announcement was made at a special event at New York's iconic Times Square, signifying a significant milestone in the intersection of medicine and space technology.
Founded by Indian entrepreneur Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Burjeel Holdings will work closely with Axiom Space to explore how the human body responds to microgravity, aiming to foster new avenues for medical innovation. The first initiative involves sending advanced medical capabilities to space as part of Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4), scheduled for launch next spring.
This collaboration will utilize best-in-class technologies from Burjeel Holdings' facilities, such as Burjeel Medical City, seeking to study biomarkers, drug substance quality, and remote health services in microgravity. The data gathered will not only enhance scientific understanding of health in space but also pave the way for medical advancements on Earth.
