In a powerful show of solidarity, doctors from Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) organized a blood donation camp on Monday under the banner 'Bleed for Abhaya.' The camp aimed to support the fight for justice following the tragic rape and death of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

'It's been a month since the horrifying incident that shook the entire medical community,' said Dr. Tushar Sharma, Vice President of the Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) at MAMC. 'We have organized this blood donation camp to convey our support to the doctors at RG Kar Hospital and their fight for justice for the departed soul.'

The blood donation drive attracted 52 participants, including doctors, faculty, nursing staff, junior and senior residents, and nursing students. According to Dr. Soumit Dey, Senior Resident in Plastic Surgery and General Secretary of RDA MAMC, the blood collected will be used for trauma patients in emergency cases, with each unit helping up to four patients.

'This is our way of continuing the fight for justice and showing support to the protesters,' Sharma added. The camp follows a nationwide strike by doctors which was called off after Supreme Court assurances regarding the safety of healthcare professionals.
