Karnataka Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil on Friday urged the public not to panic over the mpox outbreak reported in some African countries, asserting that no infections have been detected in India.
Patil highlighted that free testing facilities have been established at Victoria Hospital to ensure public safety and readiness. Mpox infections typically resolve within two to four weeks with appropriate medical care.
After a departmental meeting on preparedness, Patil reassured reporters of the state's readiness. The central government has issued guidelines and set up international airport screenings to help prevent the virus's spread.
