Healthcare services faced significant disruptions at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar on Wednesday as doctors went off duty to protest the alleged rape and murder of a female postgraduate trainee in Kolkata. The demonstrations saw doctors tying white ribbons on their foreheads and holding banners and posters.

MBBS students, resident doctors, and interns joined the protest on the institute's premises throughout the morning. According to Prabhas Tripathy, the additional superintendent of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, the ceasework began early in the day.

Meanwhile, other faculty members, including professors and assistant professors, have been striving to ensure that emergency, OPD, and IPD services remain operational. Resident doctor Deepak Ghuge emphasized the protests against the heinous crime, urging for a central law to protect doctors, along with appropriate compensation for the victim's family. He also called for an end to police actions against agitating doctors.
