Guardian Minister of Latur district, Girish Mahajan, has granted administrative approval for allocating land from the College of Agriculture to the Latur District Hospital. The resolution, expected within eight days, was discussed during the District Planning Committee Meeting held on Saturday.

Efforts will be channeled towards bolstering health facilities, including the addition of MRI and CT scan machines at Vilasrao Deshmukh Government Medical College. Welfare schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Mazi Ladki Bahin scheme and the Annapurna scheme will be effectively implemented to benefit women.

For the 2024-25 fiscal year, the annual plan has been increased by Rs 62 crore, bringing the total to Rs 529 crore. This budget will fund school construction, crematorium sheds, and the procurement of 200 new transformers to ensure uninterrupted electricity for agricultural pumps. Minister Sanjay Bansode emphasized the need for crop insurance companies to expedite claims from the previous Kharif season.

The meeting also greenlit Rs 340 crore for the 2023-24 expenditures under the district annual plan. Various local issues, including health facilities, transformer replacements, and infrastructure projects, were thoroughly discussed.

Additionally, Mahajan and Bansode inaugurated fire-fighting bikes supplied by the Disaster Management, Relief, and Rehabilitation Department for Latur's municipal councils and municipalities. These bikes, equipped with water mist fire extinguishers and compressed air foam systems, can navigate tight spaces and deliver water and foam from distances up to 30 feet, ensuring rapid fire control.

A total of 13 water mist bikes have been allocated to the Latur district by the state government.
