Healthcare Experts Call for Increased Budget Allocation in India

Healthcare experts in India are urging the government to increase spending, improve infrastructure, and drive innovation in the upcoming budget. Prominent voices, including Dr. Girdhar Gyani, Suneeta Reddy, and Dr. R V Asokan, emphasize the importance of boosting rural healthcare, public-private partnerships, and domestic manufacturing to enhance accessibility and quality.

As India approaches its budget session, key figures in the healthcare sector are advocating for heightened government spending, improved infrastructure, and enhanced innovation to strengthen the country's healthcare system.

Dr. Girdhar Gyani, Director General of the Association of Healthcare Providers - India (AHPI), stressed the importance of increased spending to address emerging health threats and achieve universal health coverage. Sanitation, clean drinking water, and nutrition are also highlighted as critical areas of focus for a 'Healthy India.'

Suneeta Reddy of Apollo Hospitals emphasized the economic-healthcare link, calling for 'national priority' status for the sector. Probal Ghosal and Dr. R V Asokan also underscored the need for greater budgetary allocations, particularly for rural healthcare and public-private partnerships.
