Spanish authorities have confirmed that the body discovered in a remote area of Tenerife belongs to missing British teenager Jay Slater. Officials stated that the injuries sustained were consistent with an accidental fall.

A court spokesperson disclosed, 'We have a positive ID... Fingerprinting confirms that the body belongs to Jay Slater and the death was due to multiple traumas compatible with a fall in the mountainous area.' The spokesperson also mentioned that although the autopsy results are still pending, the initial findings suggest an accidental fall.

Slater, aged 19, had been missing since June 17, with his phone last traced to the Masca ravine in the Canary Islands. His body was found on Monday morning by a Civil Guard mountain rescue team, near the site where his mobile phone was last located. His possessions and clothing were also retrieved from the area, according to missing persons charity LBT Global.
