Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has intensified rescue operations to locate workers trapped in the SLBC tunnel, following a February 22 collapse. His office announced on Monday that efforts are being made to accelerate the search for the eight workers, one of whom, Gurpreet Singh, was recovered on March 9.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari was instructed to appoint senior IAS officer Shiva Shankar Loteti as a Special Officer for continuous monitoring. CM Reddy reviewed the rescue operation's progress in a meeting at Assembly Hall, where ministers and top officials discussed the ongoing efforts.
25 agencies, including central, state, and private organizations, participated in the rescue. Despite challenges such as poor air and lighting conditions in the tunnel, which is 14 kilometers from the inlet, teams are working to clear debris and reach the remaining trapped workers with guidance from GSI and NGRI scientific studies.
