In a significant move to enhance tourism and economic growth in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has inaugurated helicopter services connecting Nainital, Bageshwar, and other vital routes. The initiative, launched from the CM Camp Office in Dehradun, is part of the state's ongoing efforts to improve connectivity and stimulate regional development.
Underlining the cultural and spiritual significance of regions like Bageshwar and Nainital, CM Dhami emphasized the role of these new heli services in transforming local communities. "The 'Udaan' scheme will boost tourism and economic development," he remarked, highlighting better accessibility for tourists eager to explore the area's natural beauty and heritage.
Currently, 12 out of the proposed 18 heliports are operational under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Udan' scheme, connecting strategic locations such as Gauchar, Srinagar, and others. These services not only facilitate travel but also provide critical lifelines to remote areas during natural disasters. The Dehradun to Mussoorie route, among others, signifies a transformative shift in Uttarakhand's air connectivity landscape.
