Gurugram and Delhi Police Gear Up for Massive New Year Security Measures
Gurugram and Delhi Police are ramping up security for New Year celebrations with over 2,000 officers deployed in key areas. As New Year celebrations approach, Gurugram Police have intensified security efforts, promising a safe environment for revellers. Officials have identified 22 hotspots in the city, with an impressive deployment of over 2,000 officers to oversee festivities and ensure law and order.
To aid vehicle movement near these hubs, authorities have designated 10 parking zones and installed 78 barricades strategically across inter-state borders and within Gurugram. Spokesman Sandeep Kumar confirmed these measures, adding that citywide checks are in progress.
On the regulatory front, the Department of Excise and Taxation in East Gurgaon has set up teams to monitor bars and restaurants. Amit Bhatia from the department clarified that only those establishments paying significant fees can operate post-midnight.
In the capital, Delhi Police have rolled out extensive plans to handle large gatherings, emphasizing crowd management and response readiness. Measures include 27 traffic checkpoints with breath analyzers, 57 fortified pickets, and rapid response units stationed strategically.
A focus is placed on ensuring security at 35 key venues, such as malls and cinema halls, backed by notable personnel from Assistant Commissioners to female officers, all enhancing police presence for a safe celebration atmosphere.
