In a significant boost for Bahraich's agricultural landscape, Yoga guru Ramdev has committed to purchasing 50,000 tonnes of turmeric annually from the district. The agreement was formalized with three local Farmer Producer Organisations under Uttar Pradesh's 'One District-One Product' scheme.
This strategic move, efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, aims to better the livelihoods of local farmers who have hitherto been receiving unfair prices for their produce. The fertile tehsil of Mihipurwa, rich in natural resources, stands to gain heavily from this arrangement given its suitability for abundant turmeric cultivation.
The Patanjali Ayurveda Limited Company, spearheaded by Ramdev, will oversee the procurement and marketing of the turmeric, anticipated to elevate Bahraich's turmeric to national and global prominence, encouraging fair compensation for the region's agricultural outputs.
