Gujarat's 'Fit Media, Fit India' Campaign Prioritizes Journalists' Health

The Gujarat Information and Broadcasting Department organized health check-up camps for journalists statewide, according to an official release on Monday. Led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Secretary Avantika Singh, and Director KL Bachani, the initiative aimed to support the well-being of media personnel across Gujarat.
A total of 1,532 journalists participated in health screenings as part of the 'Fit Media, Fit India' campaign. Partnering with the Gujarat Red Cross Society, the drive provided essential health services including blood tests, X-rays, ECGs, and screenings for various conditions, offering guidance and lifestyle advice, according to the release.
Launched on October 15 by CM Patel in Ahmedabad, the campaign spanned until December 19 across all district headquarters. Acknowledging the press as democracy's fourth pillar, the state government emphasized journalists' welfare through this initiative, continuing its history of supportive measures like insurance coverage.
Gujarat Red Cross Society Chairman Ajay Patel highlighted the strategic planning of the health camps, designed to meet journalists' health needs and prevent severe illnesses. Previous efforts benefitted over 500 journalists, showcasing the government's dedication to public welfare and governance, he stated. Journalists expressed gratitude, commending the government's support and the Red Cross's role in executing the campaign.
