In a tragic incident at the Indian Oil Corp (IOCL) refinery near Vadodara, a fire claimed the lives of two individuals. The blaze, sparked by a blast in a benzene storage tank, spread to nearby tanks and took nearly 12 hours to extinguish.
One canteen worker, who fell unconscious during the event, died on Tuesday, raising the death toll to two. The fire was finally controlled by collaborating fire fighting teams and mutual aid partners.
While the exact cause of the fatalities awaits post-mortem results, the company's operations have returned to normal. Compensation and support for victims' families have been confirmed, and an investigation has been launched to determine the incident's cause.
