Israel's Daring Raid on Syrian Missile Site
Israel's military confirmed a special forces raid on a missile production site in Syria, operated by Hezbollah and backed by Iran. The facility near Masyaf was poised to produce hundreds of missiles against Israel. The complex raid was one of IDF's intricate operations in recent years.
Israel's military announced on Thursday the execution of a high-stakes special forces raid on an underground missile production facility in Syria. The site, targeted in September, was reported to be equipped to produce precision missiles intended for Hezbollah's use against Israel.
Strategically located near Masyaf, the complex was described as key to Iran's manufacturing objectives in the region, according to Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani. Israeli forces had been monitoring the facility, which was masked within a mountainside, since 2017. The raid came when the site neared functionality to produce long-range missiles.
This operation was marked by a high level of complexity, involving airstrikes, numerous aircraft, and a significant troop deployment. The IDF released footage of Israeli soldiers dismantling equipment at the site, emphasizing its commitment to preventing Hezbollah's missile acquisition.
