The Delhi High Court on Monday annulled an FIR filed against businessman Ashneer Grover and his wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, on charges of cheating and forgery. Justice Chandra Dhari Singh quashed the FIR, originally lodged by the Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in 2023, after considering a plea from Madhuri Jain Grover and others.
Subsequently, a separate bench led by Justice Sanjeev Narula instructed the Bureau of Immigration to revoke the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against the Grovers. This move followed a plea to rescind the FIR registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), with claims that both parties had reached an amicable settlement by September 30.
The High Court was apprised that the economic offences FIR, following which LOC was initiated, has been officially nullified. Justice Narula highlighted that, given the quashing of the FIR, the LOC issued does not stand and directed its cancellation. Advocate Giriraj Subramanium represented the Grovers in challenging the LOC issuance.
