Kolkata Police STF Detains Man with Cache of Firearms

The Kolkata Police's Special Task Force (STF) apprehended a man late Saturday in connection with the illegal possession of firearms, authorities confirmed. The arrest took place at Baithak Khana Road following a coordinated operation based on a credible tip-off.
Identified as Mohammad Israil Khan, aged 53, and hailing from Jharkhand, the suspect was found in possession of a significant cache of weapons. Police revealed the haul included three single-shot firearms, two 7 mm semi-automatic pistols, 50 live rounds of 8 mm cartridges, and 40 live rounds of 7.65 mm cartridges.
The STF has filed a case at their police station, and further investigations are currently underway. Khan is scheduled to appear in court later today as proceedings progress. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms activities in the region.
