In a bid to strengthen ties between nature and spirituality, the Yogi government is set to host a Bird Festival coinciding with the Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj. The initiative is aimed at promoting nature conservation by blending natural elements with religious symbols.
Arvind Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer of Prayagraj, confirmed the event would occur from February 1-2, 2025, subject to government approval. The festival is designed to engage the youth with discussions on the importance of conserving nature and wildlife, while also promoting eco-tourism in the state. It will provide an opportunity to highlight Uttar Pradesh's diverse biodiversity, wildlife reserves, and sanctuaries.
Partnering with Uttar Pradesh Tourism, the Forest Department plans to create a circuit showcasing the state's forests, historical landmarks, and natural beauty, enhancing regional tourism potential. With Prayagraj known for its diverse bird population, the festival's theme, 'Faith of Kumbh, Nature Conservation, and Climate,' aims to attract experts for discussions and photo exhibitions. Notably, Indian culture deeply intertwines nature and religious practices, underscoring the significance of maintaining nature's equilibrium.
