In a tragic incident on Diwali, a 26-year-old youth named Avinash drowned while taking a selfie at Damdama Lake. The incident occurred during a boating outing with friends. Despite his friends' attempts to rescue him, they were unsuccessful, police officials reported.

Avinash, hailing from Abhaypur village, had visited the lake with friends Deepak, Rohit, and Manish. Police investigations revealed that he lost his balance while capturing selfies, inadvertently falling into the water.

Inspector Jagjit Singh, SHO of Sohna police station, confirmed that an FIR was filed following statements from Avinash's friends and a complaint from his family. Preliminary findings indicate that Avinash drowned as a result of the accident, and a probe is ongoing.
